I LOVE WHAT I DO
I’m an experienced and skilled illustrator: always looking for new challenges, and able to deliver as promised.
I tell visual stories on paper and screens. Forms and styles may vary, but the common ground is humour, detail and clever ideas.
My clients so far included Reed Business Information, Amref Flying Doctors, the Anne Frank House, Wiley Publishers, Runners World, the Ministries of Internal and External Affairs, the Municipality of Amsterdam, the Universities of Nijmegen and Leiden, Algemeen Dagblad (major Dutch newspaper), Elsevier Weekblad, Het Financieele Dagblad, Het Advocatenblad, Arts en Auto, Kidsweek, KNACK, Scouting Netherlands, Albert Heijn, SNS Bank, and many others.

A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Originally from Nijmegen, the Netherlands, I left for Brussels to study Visual Communication at the École de Recherche Graphique, where I graduated Cum Laude in 1994, specialising in illustration and comic drawing. My career as a fulltime illustrator started after getting a Propedeuse in Communications at the Amsterdam University (UvA).
After residing in the cities of Amsterdam and Haarlem I moved to a very green village close to Haarlem where I now live happily with my family and cat.
I work from my studio in an old fortress that’s part of the Unesco World Heritage, but sometimes leave it to draw live at an event anywhere in the world- ranging from the small Dutch island of Ameland to lively Nairobi.
My inspiration comes from hiking, taking photographs, open water swimming, playing the drums, traveling, looking at the work of fellow artists and creating seriously stiff drinks for my friends.
In 2012 I won a ‘fine work prize’ from the ‘Japan Illustrators Association’ with my project ‘Dogs Dig Danish design’.
I’d love to work with you on a new project!
